May 16, 2023 — On Saturday, May 13, Raymond Parcon, SJ, of Jesuits West, was ordained a deacon at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Toronto, along with Matthew Hendzel, SJ, of the Jesuits of Canada. Most Reverend Ivan Camilleri, Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto, was the ordaining prelate.

Raymond Parcon, SJ, was ordained to the diaconate May 13.

Parcon is currently studying theology at Regis College at the University of Toronto. As a Jesuit in formation, ordination to the diaconate is the final step in preparation for priestly ordination in the Society of Jesus.

Parcon earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City, Philippines, a master’s degree in software engineering from National University in Costa Mesa, California, and an advanced computer security certificate from Stanford University’s Center for Professional Development.

Prior to entering the Society, he taught catechism classes to eighth grade students and fed the homeless at Christ Cathedral in Orange, California. After joining the Jesuits in 2015, he completed his first studies at Loyola University Chicago and was a chaplain at San Quentin Prison in California during regency.
