Story

July 9, 2019 — This second part of the Praying With the Preferences series focuses on the first two Apostolic Preferences: showing the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises and discernment; as well as walking with the poor and the outcasts of this world. These tools enable us to begin to appropriate the Preferences, to develop a deeply felt knowledge before beginning an apostolic planning process.

The third capsule (out of seven) addresses the means to lead others to God in a context of growing and more widespread secularization. “We wish to share with others the most fundamental discovery of our lives, namely how discernment and the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius show the way to God.” The PDF is available here.

“To become faithful companions like Jesus, we need to be close to the poor.” The fourth capsule allows us to discern the ways to advocate for an approach that favours social justice and reconciliation, to promote culture of hospitality for all who have been forcibly displaced, and the promotion of a culture which protects the most vulnerable groups in our society. The PDF is available here.
