McManamin back to Loyola University Maryland where he would stay for more than 25 years. He did take a year in 1990 to teach history at Lujiang University in Fugian, China. While at Loyola, he served as a professor of history and as a chaplain and counselor for athletes.

In 2008, Fr. McManamin became a pastoral minister at St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Church in Woodstock, Maryland. He moved to the Colombiere Jesuit Community in Baltimore in 2011, and then to Manresa Hall Jesuit Community in 2013, praying for the Church and the Society of Jesus.
