In Memoriam

Jesuit Father David (Ted) T. Fisher, 91, former professor of theology at Loyola Marymount University, died July 16, 2014, at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California, after a brief illness.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on September 3, 1922, Fr. Fisher entered the Jesuits in 1940 after graduation from Loyola High School in Los Angeles. He was ordained a priest in San Francisco in 1953 and did graduate studies in theology at the Gregorian University in Rome.

Fr. Fisher’s main ministry was in the university classroom. He served as professor of theology at Santa Clara University, Alma College in Los Gatos and at Loyola Marymount University, retiring emeritus in 1990 after 38 years on the faculty. For decades he was active in teaching theology to many groups of religious women, especially the Carmelite Sisters, and in parish adult education classes in the southland.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Fisher of Simi Valley, California.
