The Balkans are a rich blend of diverse religions, peoples, cultures, and histories. The Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Slavs, Bulgars, and Ottoman Turks have all left their mark on the multi-layered civilization of the Balkans. Many armies have marched over its lands and fierce battles have been fought right up to the present day. Our journey begins in Thessaloniki, one of the cities of the New Testament and the subject of correspondence from St. Paul. Our journey will then take us into a world unknown to many – the monasteries, icons, churches, mosques, and historical sites of Greece, North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, and Bulgaria.
